The Hook Centre is a multi-purpose community building that offers many services and facilities for residents. Just some of the facilities on offer are: a modern public library, IT learning centre, community hall and meeting rooms, .
Many different activities take place in the Centre that range from rhyme time for 0-3 year olds to homework clubs for the 8-14 year olds. Book sales take place in the main foyer of the Centre and once a month Craft Sales take place throughout the building
There are plenty of opportunities for computer courses from introductions how to use the Internet to learning how to sell on E-bay.
Although the Hook Centre is not situated within the Tolworth and Hook Rise ward, your Liberal Democrat Focus team councillors have been very involved with this exiting project since it started. It is a great community facility that offers benefits to everyone in our area.
The recording studio in the Hook Centre is a state of the art facility that offers a range of services for anyone interested in making music. The studio offers recording sessions, rehearsal space, individual training sessions, workshops and courses. Some of our local schools make use of the facilities as well as bands and groups. Who knows, we may be offering facilities to the next X-Factor winner!!
The Hook Centre project started about 10 years ago and one of the first things the Liberal Democrat Neighbourhood Committee did was to ensure extensive public consultation.
People were asked what they wanted to see in any new facility and one of the most popular requests was for public toilets. Well, that was easily arranged and the toilets on both floors of the Centre also include full disabled access.
Another wish of many residents was to have a cafe in Hook were people could meet. There is one situated within the Centre offers just that.
